Abirami Pattar

Tirukkadaiyur has one of elegant Brahmin quarters near the temple called as agraharams established by the Maratha ruler Serfoji I, a great admirer of Brahmin poets and bards, in the early part of the 18th century.

Bhaskararaya

A disciple king of his (Maratha king Serfoji I of Thanjavur) invited him to the South and gave him a whole village on the banks of the Cauvery river.

Marava War of Succession

Bhavani Shankar eventually revolted in 1720 and securing the help of the Thanjavur Maratha king Serfoji I and the Raja of Pudukkottai, invaded Vijayaraghunatha Sethupathi's seat at Aranthangi.


Shahuji II

Shahuji II of Katturaja was the name of the ruler of Thanjavur from 1738 to 1739 who rose to power based on the unverified claim of being an illegitimate son of Serfoji I.
