A.S.D. Pontevecchio

The club is known for having been coached by Serse Cosmi during the 1990s; during his tenure as head coach, the club achieved a number of promotions which led them from Prima Categoria to Serie D.

Fabio Grosso

By now he had been converted into a left wing back by coach Serse Cosmi, and in his second season in Perugia, Grosso maintained a starting position and made 30 league appearances with 4 goals.

Ponte San Giovanni

The city has also its own football team, A.S.D. Pontevecchio, currently playing in the Italian Serie D (fifth tier) and is the birthplace of Italian top flight football manager Serse Cosmi.

Serse Cosmi

Together with Carlo Mazzone, he is considered one of the most passionate coaches in Italian football, and also became subject of a satirical imitation from comedian Maurizio Crozza.
