Pedreña

The most famous son of Pedreña is golfer Seve Ballesteros (1957–2011); the main avenue in the village is named after him.


1987 Ryder Cup

Bernhard Langer then halved his match with Larry Nelson and when Seve Ballesteros defeated Curtis Strange 2 & 1 to total 14½ points, the European victory was secured.

Imperial Open

It was played at the Seve Ballesteros Golf Club in Chiba from 1990 to 1992 and at the Caledonian Golf Club in Ibaraki in 1993.

Kenya Open

The title has been won by some of Europe's biggest Ryder Cup stars, including Seve Ballesteros, Ian Woosnam, Ken Brown and Christy O'Connor Jnr, as well as future Masters champion Trevor Immelman.

Pierre Menet

The tournament was renamed in 1970 "Trophée Lancôme", in honor of Menet's company, and brought even more prominence to the Golf de Saint Nom by attracting players such as Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Seve Ballesteros to compete in the event.

Uniroyal International Championship

It was played just twice, in 1976 when it was called the Uniroyal International and won by Englishman Tommy Horton, and the following year, once the word "Championship" had been added to the name, and Seve Ballesteros of Spain was the victor.
