Its capital was Idaj, now only represented by mounds and ruins at Malamir, 100 km south east of Shushtar.
Neo-Mandaic survives in three subdialects, which arose in the cities of Shûshtar, Shāh Wāli, and Dezful in northern Khūzestān, Iran.
