It was renamed The Civic in 1986 and was a bar, and then served as a live music venue, with acts by Salmonella Dub, Shapeshifter, Elemeno P and Anika Moa.
Elkan produced Aaron Ross' 2007 album "Shapeshifter" and tracks for Golden Shoulders' "Get Reasonable" 2009.
Malherbe and Daevid Allen began collaborating again with Gongmaison in 1989, which eventually began performing and recording again under the name Gong on the studio albums Shapeshifter (1992), Zero to Infinity (2001), and 2032 (2009) after rejoining with various members of the classic line-up, including Gilli Smyth and Mike Howlett, among others.

Vega then appeared in Just My Luck, starring Lindsay Lohan, and also in the summer blockbuster X-Men: The Last Stand as the Prison Truck Little Girl, where she was one of the forms that the shapeshifter Mystique took, as an unsuccessful ploy to fool the guards into letting her go.
The novel follows the adventure of four bears, Kallik (a polar bear), Lusa (a black bear), Toklo (a brown bear) and Ujurak (a shapeshifter who is usually a brown bear).
