The novel follows the adventure of four bears, Kallik (a polar bear), Lusa (a black bear), Toklo (a brown bear) and Ujurak (a shapeshifter who is usually a brown bear).

Merlin: The Quest Begins was created by Eamonn Maguire and is a 1998 television movie about a young Merlin (Jason Connery).
He was the assistant director additional scenes in a 1999 film adaptation of King Lear, and has worked on many other films, including Highlander 1 & 2, Merlin The Quest Begins and several documentaries.
