Shelbourne win the League of Ireland championship for the seventh time with a 1-0 play-off victory over Cork Celtic thanks to a Ben Hannigan goal.
The draw was made on the 6 February 2012 at the FAI Headquarters, Abbotstown, by FAI President Paddy McCaul and former Drogheda United, Shamrock Rovers, Derry City and Shelbourne star Mick Neville.
The bridge itself forms the centre of the Ballsbridge suburb which extends northwards towards the Grand Canal along Northumberland Road up to Haddington Road and Shelbourne Road, extends southwards along the Merrion Road towards Merrion and along Anglesea Road towards Donnybrook, and westwards to encompass the area around Pembroke Road, Clyde Road, Elgin Road, and Herbert Park.
Just one month later in April 2002, he left Glanford Park for League of Ireland side Shelbourne on a free transfer.
Shelbourne were referred to as the "Irish version of Leeds United" after winning the League of Ireland Premier Division in 2006 but being automatically demoted into the League of Ireland First Division for financial reasons.
However his greatest success was appearing in goal in Bohemians' 1908 Irish Cup winning team when they defeated Shelbourne after a replay.
He spent 2 seasons at Bohs winning a runners-up medal in the FAI Cup again losing to Shelbourne before he moved to Buckley Park and Kilkenny City.
Shelbourne Park appeared in the British motoring programme, Top Gear where Richard Hammond using a Mazda MX5 raced against a greyhound around the track.
The following week he netted his first goal against Shelbourne at Harold's Cross Stadium.
Paisley made a swift return to League of Ireland football by signing for Shelbourne on 17 August 2010, reuniting with his former Longford Town manager Alan Mathews at the Tolka Park club.
He soon scored his first Shelbourne goal during a 5–2 victory over Kilkenny City at Buckley Park.
