Shiban, a 13th-century Mongol prince, grandson of Genghis Khan
According to the Tarikh-i Dost Sultan written by Ötemish Hajji in Khiva in the 1550s, Batu's ulus was officially known as the "White Horde", Orda's the "Blue Horde" and Shiban's the "Grey Horde".
In August 2010, Shiban was confirmed as a writer for Torchwood's fourth series Torchwood: Miracle Day.
Throughout its history rule over the Khanate was often contested between members of the Shaybanid and Taibugid dynasties; both of these competing tribes were direct patrilineal descendants of Genghis Khan through his eldest son Jochi and his fifth son Shayban (Shiban).
