Shiu-Yuen Cheng

Cheng chaired the Mathematics departments of both the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in the 90s.

His remarkable contributions include comparison theorems of Laplacian eigenvalues on Riemannian manifolds, the maximal diameter theorem in Riemannian geometry.


Ram Narayan Deoki

His father, Shiu Narayan Deoki, was initially a farmer in Navua but the decline in the sugar industry in the district forced him to move to Suva, where he set up a grocery business.
