This Foundation has supported several community projects such as “Help Those Who Help,” which according to Siglo Veintiuno, one of the leading newspapers in Guatemala, provides funds to projects for the needy.
In 1995, its staff won the International Press Freedom Awards of the Committee to Protect Journalists, and Zamora won several individual awards for his work with the paper.

However, Serrano's action met with strong protests by most elements of Guatemalan society, at the forefront of which was the Siglo Veintiuno newspaper under the leadership of José Rubén Zamora.
