U.S. Route 127 (called "Rankin Avenue" in Dunlap), which traverses the Tennessee section of Sequatchie Valley, connects Dunlap to Crossville and the upper plateau area to the north and Chattanooga opposite Signal Mountain to the southeast.
Later, she and her family moved to Walden's Ridge (now Signal Mountain), Tennessee.
The nearest "antenna farms" to Sharp's Ridge are on Holston Mountain in upper East Tennessee, home to most of the FM and TV stations in the Tri-Cities (Bristol, Virginia-Kingsport, Tennessee-Johnson City, Tennessee) Designated Market Area (DMA), and the Signal Mountain broadcast antenna farm, near Chattanooga, Tennessee, home to most of the FM and TV station antennas in that DMA.
The annual event takes place the first Saturday in October on the Signal Mountain, Tennessee, portion of the Cumberland Trail.
