2 unusual facts about Simarouba amara


Simarouba amara

On Barro Colorado Island (BCI), Panama, it tends to flower during the dry season from the end of January to the end of April, persisting for 11 to 15 weeks each year.

A study at the La Selva Biological Station found the leaves weigh approximately 30 g/m2 (dry weight), similar to P. elegans, but around double the weight of L. ampla.
