Simen Agdestein (born 1967), Norwegian chess grandmaster and footballer
Like fellow Scandinavians Simen Agdestein and Magnus Carlsen, Árnason in his youth was hailed as a potential world champion after a string of results.
For twelve years she was married to Simen Agdestein, an International Grandmaster of chess and former Norwegian international footballer.
He won tournaments in Gentofte (VISA Nordic Grand Prix, ahead of Sune Berg Hansen, Simen Agdestein, Einar Gausel, Helgi Grétarsson, Heikki Westerinen and more, York in 1999, Jersey (2000), Barcelona Sants 2003 and The Guernsey International Open (2001, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010).
