His most recent film performance can be seen in Sion Sono’s Why Don’t You Play in Hell? as the young, passionate, and slightly deranged film-director wannabe, Don Hirata.
Upcoming film works include as a leading role And Then I Knew 'Twas Wind by Yoshihiro Hanno, a co-starring role in Shin Yotsuya Kaidan by Takashi Miike, and a co-starring role in Tokyo Tribe by Sion Sono.
Since her debut Takahashi has worked with many prominent directors; playing Kawahime, the River Princess, in Takashi Miike's horror-fantasy children's film Yokai Daisenso (released in the U.S. in 2006 as The Great Yokai War.) She also appeared in Sion Sono's 2005 film Kimyo na Sakasu (Strange Circus), Yoshihiro Nakamura's Busu (The Booth, 2005), and in Hitoshi Yazaki's 2006 film Strawberry Shortcakes.
Sion Sono is currently working on a live-action adaptation of Tokyo Tribes scheduled for 2014.
