The park includes mangrove forests, lagoons and sandy beaches and covers an area of 20 km long and 1 km wide, stretching between the coastal towns of Sipacate and Naranjo.

The municipality is 81 km from Guatemala City, situated between the municipalities of Escuintla, Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, and La Democracia, linked to Siquinalá by road, which continues to the sea at Sipacate, in the municipality of La Gomera.
