Abraham Mar Thoma

He resisted the undemocratic and dictatorial actions of Dewan Sir C. P. Ramaswami Iyer and was instrumental in getting a resolution passed by the Sabha Council (church council) condemning Sir C. P’s move to proclaim Travancore as an independent state following the lapse of British Paramountey.

C. V. Runganada Sastri

His eldest son Sir C. V. Kumaraswami Sastri served as a judge of the Madras High Court while his daughter Seethammal married Sir C. P. Ramaswami Iyer, a leading political figure in early 20th century Madras.

Madras Music Academy

The Academy was formally inaugurated on the 18th of August, 1928 by C. P. Ramaswami Iyer, in the Y.M.I.A. Auditorium before a large and distinguished gathering.

Thomas Thurlow

During his life, Thurlow completed many works for local people and various churches, including a memorial to Sir C. Blois from Cockfield Hall in Yoxford Church, a life-size statue of Samuel Clouting in Kelsale Church, a marble bust of Richard Garrett III in Leiston Church, and a commission from William Long of Hurts Hall to carve a rose and spray for the entrance to his mansion.
