His father, William Harcourt Isham Mackworth (1806—1872), a younger son of Sir Digby Mackworth, the 3rd Baronet, took the additional surname Dolben after he married Frances, the heiress of Sir John English Dolben, the 4th Baronet.

Jean Civiale

Among the many students of Civiale, Sir Henry Thompson, a British surgeon and urologist, took the instrument and the technique to Great Britain and became quite famous with it, after operating King Léopold I of Belgium.

Sir Henry Thompson, 3rd Baronet

Sir Henry was, during his life, Curate in charge at Holy Trinity Church, Bembridge, Isle of Wight; Rector of the Church of Holy Trinity, Fareham, Hampshire (the building of which had been paid for by himself and his mother, Lady Jane Thompson), and in 1845 he was given the living of Frant, Sussex by the Earl of Abergavenny.
