Gopalganj, Bihar

Gopalganj is adjoined to the West Champaran district in the north, the place where Mahatma Gandhi started his revolution for independence, the Satyagrah Andolan,  East Champaran district in east, Chhapra district in south-east,  Siwan district in South, Deoria district( Uttar Pradesh) in West and Kushinagar district(Uttar Pradesh) in North-west.The district is adjacent to the famous Valmiki National Park.

On 2nd October, 1973, Saran District was partitioned to give birth to three districts Chappra, Siwan and Gopalganj.

It was carved out of old Saran district (constited of now Chhapra, Siwan and Gopalganj) on October 2, 1973.

Gopalganj was part of erstwhile Saran district which encompassed Chhapra, Siwan and Gopalganj.

Raxaul

There are direct trains to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad(Proposed extension of Hyderabad Darbhaga Express), Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Siwan, Sonpur, Hajipur, Lucknow,Darbhanga, and many cities.


Bihari literature

Novelist, short story writer, poet and dramatist Paigham Afaqui, wrote the Urdu novel Makaan and belongs to district Siwan though he lives in Delhi.
