The fifth track of the CD reissue is actually a heavily modulated snippet from a press conference with Evel Knievel, sometime after the Snake River Canyon incident.
Bart's attempt to jump over Springfield Gorge is a reference to Knievel's 1974 attempt to jump Snake River Canyon at Twin Falls, Idaho, with a Skycycle X-2.

In June 2013 Custer celebrated her 102nd birthday by BASE jumping off the Perrine Bridge into the Snake River Canyon.
It rises in the southern Rocky Mountains of Wyoming and flows northeast through the Teton National Forest, before turning northwest to join the Snake just downstream of Jackson Hole, near the head of the Snake River Canyon and near the town of Hoback.
To the east, along the south rim of the canyon, lies the dirt ramp used by Evel Knievel when he unsuccessfully attempted to jump the canyon on his steam-powered "skycycle" in 1974.
The Skycycle X-2 was designed by Truax, and ridden by Knievel in his attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon near Twin Falls, Idaho on September 8, 1974.
