The subterranean museum is under the administration of the Naoshima Fukutake Art Museum Foundation, a project of the Benesse Corporation whose president Soichiro Fukutake also acts as director of the facility.
As part of Benesse Corporation’s activities to support arts and culture, he opened the Benesse House Museum, which was designed by the architect Tadao Ando in 1992.
