At the end of the book, it was suggested that the Solarians had modified themselves so much that they no longer counted as human, and that their behavior could no longer be predicted by psychohistory, necessitating the creation of Galaxia.

Many of the characteristics of Solaria bear a strong resemblance to those described in E.M.Forster's 1909 short story, The Machine Stops.
Notable Italian literary figures such as Montale, Elio Vittorini collaborated with Solaria. She married the literary critic of La Nazione, Bruno Fallaci, in 1930, a marriage doomed to early failure.
