Friedrich Wilhelm Carl/Karl Umbreit (April 11, 1795, Sonneborn, Thüringen - April 26, 1860, Heidelberg) was a German Protestant theologian and a Hebrew Bible scholar.
Johann Peter Lange (10 April 1802, Sonneborn (now a part of Wuppertal) - 9 July 1884, age 82), was a German Calvinist theologian of peasant origin.
In August 2004, Sonneborn founded the satirical political party Die PARTEI, one of whose aims is to rebuild the Berlin Wall in Germany.
