Flatiron Construction

From 1999 to 2004, Flatiron worked on projects in Florida, Texas, Louisiana and the Carolinas, such as the Carolina Bays Parkway project.

South Carolina Highway 31

Two lobbying groups, Taxpayers for Common Sense and Friends of the Earth, both argued against the need for the road from economic and environmental perspectives.

The road that would eventually become Carolina Bays Parkway was planned as early as 1989 by then-U.S. Representative Robin Tallon.


Robert Edge Parkway

Also in 2002, Horry County representatives in the South Carolina State House introduced a resolution to designate South Carolina Highway 22 as Interstate 73, South Carolina Highway 31 as Interstate 74, and the North Myrtle Beach Connector as Interstate 174.
