In the 2007 local elections, South Ribble witnessed a landslide Conservative victory, gaining 24 seats to hold 44 of 55 on the borough council.

It was discovered on 15 May 1840 on the southern bank of a bend of the River Ribble, in an area called Cuerdale in South Ribble near to the city of Preston, Lancashire, England.
During the final months of the hospital's existence, a group of Trustees had established St. Catherine's Hospice (Lancashire) Limited, in the Lancashire area, and were looking for a building to serve as a hospice base for people in the Preston, Chorley, and South Ribble Boroughs.
