The 2005–06 season was the 103rd in the history of the Southern League, which is an English football competition featuring semi-professional and amateur clubs from the South West, South Central and Midlands of England and South Wales.

Bill Furby

William "Bill" Furby (b. 1871 – fl. 1969) was an English amateur footballer who played for Southampton St. Mary's in the club's first season in the Southern League.

Brian Givens

Givens spent the entire 1994 season with the White Sox's Birmingham Barons team in the Southern League, playing alongside basketball great Michael Jordan.

Clifford Grossmark

African Americans in Atlanta

Bill McCafferty

As Cardiff City was long considered a potential entrant for the Second Division due to their FA Cup exploits and Southern League dominance, they were sent directly into the Second Division and Grimsby Town, last place in the Second Division for 1919–20, was relegated.
