Starr has enlisted other Canadian musicians to appear on her albums over the years, including Swollen Members' Moka Only, Coco Love Alcorn, former Dream Warrior Spek and Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara.
Spek's single "Smell the Coffee" was featured several times in the Old Vic in EastEnders.

In 2005, Spek was cast in a lead role in the UK/European feature film Wicked, starring alongside Danish star Kim Bodnia and others.
