Leicester Hunters

Former rider Cyril "Squib" Burton, who had been one of the top riders of the Leicester Stadium team in the early 1930s, took over as manager in 1950 and the team were promoted to division 2 at the end of the season.


British and Irish Quidditch Cup

Overall, the winners were Radcliffe Chimeras from Oxford University lead by captain Ashley Cooper, with Avada Keeledavra of Keele University taking the silver medals and The Society of Quidditch in Bangor (SQUiB) from Bangor University taking the bronze medals.

Jackson Burns

His fire drag stunt from a vehicle at 246 feet totally engulfed Burns in flames at one point and damaged his Nomex fire suit ; Burns took 22 squib hits at once, 22 total in 15 seconds; and as stunt double for George Kennedy on the motion picture The Man Who Came Back, was dragged from the back of a horse for a total distance of 282 feet.

Squib kick

In Super Bowl XLI, the Indianapolis Colts decided to squib kick five of six subsequent kickoffs after Devin Hester of the Chicago Bears returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown.

Perhaps the most famous example of a squib kick is the controversial last-second kickoff return, nicknamed "The Play", during the November 20, 1982 college football game between the University of California, Berkeley ("California" or "Cal") Golden Bears and their arch-rival, the Stanford Cardinal.
