Opposite Christ Church is Alice's Shop, formerly frequented by Alice Liddell, and the model for the Sheep Shop in the "Wool and Water" chapter in Through the Looking-Glass.

South of Christ Church is an entrance to Christ Church Meadow and, still on the east side, the Oxford University Faculty of Music, containing the Bate Collection of Musical Instruments.
To the north, the road crosses the River Thames at Folly Bridge and becomes St Aldate's, which leads to the centre of Oxford at Carfax, although the one-way system now prevents traffic from taking a direct route.
In 2002 Hurley moved to five rural parishes near Salisbury and in 2003 the Revd Francis Orr-Ewing (previously a curate at St Aldate's Church in Oxford) was appointed as vicar.
Until 1889 Grandpont was in Berkshire, although it was a tithing of the parish of St Aldate's, Oxford.
He is mentioned in the Sarum and other martyrologies; his feast occurs in a Gloucester calendar (14th-century addition); churches were dedicated to him at Gloucester and Oxford, as well as a famous Oxford street: St Aldate's, Oxford and a minor street in Gloucester.
The event has run every year since and in 2009 moved to South Park on Headington Hill.
It has been pointed out by many Pembroke College students that the best view of Tom Tower is from their porters' lodge, off St Aldates.
