Pak'nSave is well known for its "cut price" television and print adverts utilising a Stickman, nicknamed "Stickman", in black on a yellow background (occasionally, the colour scheme is reversed, including during the 2011 Rugby World Cup and the 2012 Summer Olympics).

The winner, published in Softdisk 53, was Sandy Smith, who gave Alfredo the last name of "Lay" - a very poorly executed pun (Frito-Lay? Alfredo Lay?), but one that the publishers of Softdisk felt appropriate, as yet another way to torture the poor little stick figure.
As a child, she suffered from anorexia; according to her memoir, Stick Figure, her illness was resolved after being threatened with force-feeding.
The film spawned a reality series, "Amish in the City", which Cantor's Stick Figure banner executive produced, as well as a non-fiction book "Rumspringa" by Tom Shachtman (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2007).
