Boundary Ranges

The Boundary Ranges include several large icefields, including the Juneau Icefield, between the Alaska city of the same name and Atlin Lake in B.C.; and the Stikine Icecap, which lies between the lower Stikine River and the Whiting River.

Stikine River

From there the river flows in a large northward arc turning to the west and southwest, past the gold rush and Tahltan community of Telegraph Creek.


Dease Lake, British Columbia

In 1837 a Hudson's Bay Company post, known as Lake House, was created by Robert Campbell on the shore of Dease Lake about 50 km North of the Stikine River and 150 km south of where the present day Alaska Highway passes.

Skeena River

The Skeena originates south of the Spatsizi Plateau Wilderness Provincial Park in north western British Columbia, forming a divide with the Klappan River, a tributary of the Stikine River.

Stikine Plateau

the Klastline Plateau lies south of the Stikine River to the north of the Klappan Range of the Skeena Mountains and includes the headwaters of the Iskut River.

the Spatsizi Plateau is the southeasternmost and occupies the area between the Skeena Mountains and includes the headwaters of the Stikine River and the basin of the Spatsizi River.

Tuya Range

The northern and northwest side of the range is drained by tributaries of the Cottonwood River; the southern and southwestern flank is formed by Tuya Lake and its tributary, Butte Creek, while the southeast flank is formed by the Cottonwood River and its tributaries (the Cottonwood is a tributary of the Dease River, the Tuya of the Stikine).
