In 1925, a study on the phenomena of oxidation and reaeration in the Ohio River in the US was published by the sanitary engineer, Harold Warner Streeter and the consultant, Earle Bernard Phelps (1876–1953).

Ferris B. Streeter (September 24, 1819-August 19, 1877) (his first name is sometimes spelled "Farris") was a Pennsylvania attorney, legislator and jurist who served as Solicitor of the United States Treasury.
In March 2012, Streeter was one of three MPs who signed a letter to the Advertising Standards Authority asking it to reverse its decision to stop the Christian group "Healing on the Streets of Bath" from making explicit claims that prayer can heal.

Rahn) Streeter (who formerly played for Ike and Tina Turner, Bo Diddley, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, and Al Jarreau), Ben Ra on saxophone and Mr. Tom Bone on trombone.
Streeter was a long-time resident of New York City, and had just retired as a Vice-President of The Bank of New York at the time he wrote this novel.
