Studholme is situated on the coastal plains of the Waihao River and Waimate Creek, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean and Wainono Lagoon.
Amid the demands of a busy theatre schedule, Studholme found time in 1907 to study Jujitsu with Yukio Tani.

Studholme was born in Eccleshill, Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, the only child of Joseph Ludholme Lupton, an auctioneer, and his wife Emma Greaves.
During the School's Golden Jubilee in 1961, the new Studholme Hall was officially opened by the then Governor-General, Sir Charles Lyttelton

During this period, the fortieth anniversary of the School occurred and, as part of the celebrations, a coat of arms approved by the Lord Lyon King of Arms in Scotland was presented to Studholme House.
