Harry C. Stutz (1876–1930), American automobile pioneer and manufacturer of luxury cars and fire engines
In the 1920s the Stutz firm used them on its cars; to have a lower floor than its competitors, the gear was located on the bottom.

Weymann brought a Stutz DV16 Blackhawk team to Le Mans 1928 and they finished second in the race – to a Bentley.
While a student at Washburn, Stutz was initiated into the Kansas Beta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta.
The 35 landing beaches were all named for automobiles: Austin, Buick, Cadillac through Stutz, Winton, and Zephyr.
