Yarlagadda Sumanth Kumar, a Telugu film actor hailing from the Akkineni family; nephew of Akkineni Nagarjuna and Amala.
Chawla started off her film career in the Telugu film industry, starring in the feature film Yuvakudu (2000) alongside actor Sumanth.
Later that year she was paired for the second time with Sumanth in Chinnodu but it was not a successful venture.
