The parade was portrayed in a negative aspect following the controversial 2000 parade in an 2001 episode of the long-running NBC crime series Law & Order titled "Sunday in the Park with Jorge".
The 2000 Puerto Rican Day Parade attacks formed the basis of episode 11-11 of the NBC police procedural Law & Order episode "Sunday in the Park with Jorge", in which many woman were accosted and one found murdered in Central Park.
Sunday in the Park with Jorge was loosely based on the Puerto Rican Day Parade attacks in the June before the episode aired, in which over four dozen women claimed to be groped and where the police response was heavily criticized.
