Albertsons Boise Open

The grocery chain was founded by Joe Albertson in 1939 in Boise, and the company was headquartered in the city until 2006, when it was acquired by Supervalu of Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

AppleTree Markets

Also in Philadelphia, many A&P as well as Acme and Food Fair (doing business as Pantry Pride in its later years, and not related to the current Houston chain of the same name), and Penn Fruit (acquired by Food Fair during the same period) stores closed and reopened as IGA and related chains Thriftway, Shop 'n Bag, O&O, Pick Well, Great Valu (SuperValu), and ShopRite.

Charleville, County Cork

Charleville is also home to stores and restaurants such as Lidl, Supervalu, Subway, Supermacs, Papa Johns Elverys Sports and Aldi.

Mike Erlandson

During his leadership of the State Democratic Party (DFL) and prior to joining Supervalu, Erlandson hosted a radio show on Air American Minnesota called "The Mike Erlandson Show," and was a regular on local public affairs programs.

Mochi ice cream

Mikawaya's mochi ice cream products are now sold in major American supermarkets, including Albertsons, Trader Joe's, Ralphs, and Safeway.

Penn Fruit

It then later closed all but a handful of its supermarkets, including the last of its Baltimore division (now called Big Valu), which were sold to Food A Rama, a local Baltimore chain (now part of Shoppers Food & Pharmacy, a Supervalu division) with the remaining 17 stores sold to Food Fair in 1975.

Shop 'n Save

In 1983, the retail chain was acquired by Wetterau, Inc. Nine years later, in 1992, Wetterau was acquired by SuperValu, and Shop ’n Save has been a subsidiary of SuperValu since.
