Founded in 1990 by playwrights Aubrey Hampton and Susan Hussey, the 76-seat full-season theatre presents original dramas, musicals and revivals of classic works.
Susan Hussey (June 1, 1954 – February 19, 2009) was an American playwright and co-founder of the Gorilla Theatre performing arts venue in Tampa, Florida.
On 25 April 1959 she married Marmaduke Hussey (later Chairman of the Board of Governors of the BBC) and they had two children, James Arthur (born 15 August 1961) and Katharine Elizabeth (born 1 February 1964).
