The singer's last album for the label before his move to MCA, it contains, among others, a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm on Fire" and a version of Kris Kristofferson's "Living Legend", which would be recorded by The Highwaymen in 1990, on Highwayman 2.
"Looking for Suzanne", "America" and "Waltz Me to Heaven" are all previously unreleased Jennings recordings; the first of these made a reappearance on Jennings' Sweet Mother Texas (1986).
