Fire-control system designs developed during World War II used synchros extensively, to transmit angular information from guns and sights to an analog fire control computer, and to transmit the desired gun position back to the gun location.
The competition took place at three locations in central Melbourne: the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (diving and water polo), St Kilda Beach (open water), and Rod Laver Arena in a temporary pool christened the Susie O'Neill Pool (synchro and swimming).
Swimming was held at the CARD Guy Verlaguet pool in Dumbéa, Synchro was held at a pool in Ouen-Toro park, and the Open Water races were swum in the waters off Baie des Citrons (5K) and Anse-Vata (10K).

She won her first medal aged 16 at the Juniores European Championships in Aachen, Germany, where she won the silver medal in the 3 metres springboard synchro competition, together with her mate Francesca Dallapè, and won the bronze medal in the platform event.
Synchro Nine Factor has performed extensively throughout the Southeast and has shared drugs with their bandmates Chemlab, Sister Machine Gun, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Pigface and Zeromancer.
