Also the mythological home of Hurling game as told in the Táin Bó Cúailnge, when Setanta traveled through these mountains hitting his sliothar (ball) before him on his way to Emain Macha, this feat is re-enacted every year in the All-Ireland Poc Fada Championship which takes place on Annaverna Mountain.

Culann's Hounds

The name Culann's Hounds derives from the Irish folk story of Cuchulainn, a great Irish hero chronicled in the Tain.

His most important work was Imtheacht na Tromdhaimhe, or, The proceedings of the great Bardic Institution, which relates how Senchán Torpéist recovered the Táin Bó Cúailnge, one of the most famous tales of the Irish bards.
