2 unusual facts about Ta' Qali


HMS Goldfinch

HMS Goldfinch was the name given to Ta' Qali airfield in Malta when it was transferred to the Fleet Air Arm on 1945-04-01 for use as a Fleet Requirements Unit.

John Mortimer Warfield

In February 1939, just before the Second World War started, Warfield was appointed as Command Armament Staff Officer at HQ Mediterranean Command at RAF Luqa serving under Air Vice Marshal Hugh Lloyd, a post he held until the spring of 1941 when he was promoted to Wing Commander and appointed as Officer Commanding of the Malta airbase RAF Ta' Qali.


Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011

The Malta Eurosong 2011 will not be held at the MFCC (Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre) in Ta' Qali, Attard but at the MCC (Mediterranean Conference Centre) in Valletta.
