In 2013, Lopez's boyhood home was moved to a lot across the street from the Ybor City State Museum, where it will be refurbished and reopened as the "Tampa Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House".
Other than Al Lopez, Tampa was home to many other legendary baseball players including Lou Piniella, Tony La Russa, Tino Martinez, and many others.
