Two species of Hippoboscidae – Ornithoica (Ornithoica) podargi and Ornithomya fuscipennis are also common parasites of the Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) of Australia.
The Tawny Frogmouth is smaller in length but often reaches heavier weights.

The island is home to unique and endangered flora such as Brachychiton incanus and a variety of birdlife such as Rufous Night Heron, Little Eagle, Brown Falcon, Whimbrel, Tawny Frogmouth, Great Bowerbird and Rainbow Bee-eater.
