Team Mexico and Team Japan were quickly announced as competitors in the 2006 World X Cup, much like they were in the 2004 World X Cup.
Also announced was the teams in the tournament: The returning Team TNA (The renamed Team USA), the returning Team Mexico, the returning Team Japan, and the debuting Team International (to take the place of Team Canada and Team Britain).
In the semifinal game against Team Japan, Lee hit a dramatic go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning off reliever Hitoki Iwase, which proved to be the winning runs in Korea's 6-2 win.
