Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve - a 22,000-square-mile (57,000 km2) near Tefé, Brazil
Ayres' doctorate in primatology at Cambridge, in 1986, was for his thesis Uakaris and Amazonian flooded forest, the field work for which was undertaken on the upper Amazon River floodplain, near Tefé.
This species is so far known from the type locality only, the Igarapé Repartimento, a tributary of the mouthbay lake, Tefé Lake, some 6 km south of the town of Tefé, Amazonas, Brazil.
She is later born in Swamp Thing #90 (1989) as Tefé, named after Tefé, the location of the Brazilian river source and, in the DC Universe, home of the Parliament of Trees.
