Since 1991, Bierstadt has had a partnership with the French commune of Terrasson-Lavilledieu.
It was designed in 1996 by landscape architect Kathryn Gustafson to present thirteen tableaux of the myths and legends of the history of gardens.
Just northwest of Terrasson in the eastern Dordogne there is an upfaulted basement high, that is also included within the main unit.
