2011 Nabro eruption

On 6 July, reports suggest 48,000 people in the Bidu, Afdera, Erebti, Elidar, Teru and Kori woredas were in need of aid (with ash affecting food and water sources), and that the casualty total had reached 31 dead in the Bidu woreda.

Ampelocissus abyssinica

Ampelocissus abyssinica is a large climbing vine native to southeast Ethiopia, where it is known in the Afaan Oromo language by the name teru (also the name for a part of that country), and is used as a herbal treatment for the medical condition known as black leg.

Teru

'Taru' is also the title of a ballad composed by saxophonist Wayne Shorter.
