The best known version of the song is the 1967 single released by The American Breed that peaked at #5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in early 1968 and #24 in the United Kingdom.
In 1983, they recorded a second IRS album, Conversation, at Pumpkin studios owned and operated by Gary Loizzo (two-time Grammy-nominated singer for The American Breed and producer for Chicago, Styx, Survivor and REO Speedwagon.
In celebration of the 2005 baseball championship of the Chicago White Sox, the American Breed issued a CD single entitled "Rock with the Sox."
