2 unusual facts about The Baileys of Balboa

Keefe Brasselle

During the 1964-65 season, Brasselle's "Richelieu Productions" banner produced three new but untested series: The Baileys of Balboa, The Cara Williams Show, and The Reporter.

The Baileys of Balboa

The show was primarily developed for the network because its president, James T. Aubrey, insisted that Gilligan's Island, which premiered the same season (and which he personally loathed), would have been a better show if it had centered on the exploits of a charter boat captain operating in a marina, and had his old friend Keefe Brasselle produce his version of the idea in order to prove his point.

Roger Ewing

He also appeared that season as Eddie Fox in the episode "The Christmas Show" of ABC's short-lived The Bing Crosby Show, starring Bing Crosby and Beverly Garland, and in a third sitcom as well in the role of Norman in the episode entitled "Look Who's a Sailor" on CBS's short-lived The Baileys of Balboa.
