Established in 1976, the BSN Junior School Assen (The Helen Sharman School) was a small school community based in the north of the Netherlands.

Konrad Bartelski was a student of the BSN between 1960 and 1972, Konrad was the son of a KLM pilot and no one at that time could have foreseen that he would go on to become a world champion runner up in downhill skiing.
